Een onvergetelijke verjaardag met DAOU & Colomé Het vieren van mijn moeders verjaardag werd nog specialer dankzij twee ongelooflijke wijnen - DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 en Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. De ster van de avond was ongetwijfeld de DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. Vanaf de eerste slok werden we omarmd door een rijke, fluweelzachte smaak. De diepe aroma's van donker fruit, hints van cacao en perfect gebalanceerd eikenhout zorgden ervoor dat elk glas aanvoelde als een ware verwennerij. Hij was gedurfd en toch elegant, een wijn die moeiteloos warmte en vreugde bracht aan onze bijeenkomst. Toen ik mijn moeder elke slok met een glimlach zag proeven, was het des te gedenkwaardiger. De Colomé Auténtico Malbec leverde ook prachtig, met zijn pure expressie van hooggelegen Malbec. Hij was krachtig, met rijpe bramen, kruiden en een zachte, aanhoudende afdronk - een uitstekende aanvulling op de avond. Deze wijnen versterkten niet alleen onze maaltijd; ze werden een deel van de viering, waardoor elke toast en elk gesprek een hoogtepunt werd. Hartelijk dank aan DAOU en Colomé voor het onvergetelijk maken van deze speciale gelegenheid!

    A Birthday to Remember with DAOU & Colomé Celebrating my mother’s birthday was made even more special thanks to two incredible wines—DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 and Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. The star of the evening was undoubtedly the DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. From the first sip, it enveloped us in its rich, velvety embrace. The deep dark fruit flavors, hints of cocoa, and perfectly balanced oak made every glass feel like a true indulgence. It was bold yet elegant, a wine that effortlessly brought warmth and joy to our gathering. Seeing my mother savor each sip with a smile made it all the more memorable. The Colomé Auténtico Malbec also delivered beautifully, with its pure expression of high-altitude Malbec. It was powerful, with ripe blackberries, spice, and a smooth, lingering finish—an excellent complement to the evening. These wines didn’t just enhance our meal; they became part of the celebration, elevating every toast and conversation. A heartfelt thank you to DAOU and Colomé for making this special occasion truly unforgettable!

    Sean Minors aanvankelijke plannen om de financiële wereld in te gaan werden op hun kop gezet toen hij zijn vrouw Nicole ontmoette en verliefd werd op wijnmaken. Al snel ging hij terug naar school om wijnmaken te studeren aan UC Davis en werkte hij vele jaren bij topwijnhuizen in Californië en Oregon. In 2005 besloot het echtpaar dat het tijd was om hun dromen na te jagen door hun eigen wijnlabel op te richten dat een gat in de markt zou vullen door heerlijke maar betaalbare wijnen met echt karakter te creëren.

    Het echtpaar bezit geen eigen wijngaarden, maar geeft de voorkeur aan langetermijncontracten met druiven van hun vertrouwde partnerkwekers. Het fruit is afkomstig uit de beste wijngebieden van Californië en Oregon en de Minors werken er hard aan om ervoor te zorgen dat hun telers hun inzet voor zowel fruit van uitzonderlijke kwaliteit als duurzaamheid delen.

    Deze robuuste en krachtige Cabernet is gemaakt van speciaal geselecteerde wijngaardpercelen in het North Coast gebied. Eenmaal in de wijnmakerij worden de verschillende percelen apart gevinifieerd en gerijpt in eikenhouten vaten voordat de uiteindelijke assemblage plaatsvindt. Het resultaat is een rijke en intense Cabernet die barst van de donkere bessen, weelderige kruiden en hints van geroosterd eikenhout.
