A Birthday to Remember with DAOU & Colomé Celebrating my mother’s birthday was made even more special thanks to two incredible wines—DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 and Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. The star of the evening was undoubtedly the DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. From the first sip, it enveloped us in its rich, velvety embrace. The deep dark fruit flavors, hints of cocoa, and perfectly balanced oak made every glass feel like a true indulgence. It was bold yet elegant, a wine that effortlessly brought warmth and joy to our gathering. Seeing my mother savor each sip with a smile made it all the more memorable. The Colomé Auténtico Malbec also delivered beautifully, with its pure expression of high-altitude Malbec. It was powerful, with ripe blackberries, spice, and a smooth, lingering finish—an excellent complement to the evening. These wines didn’t just enhance our meal; they became part of the celebration, elevating every toast and conversation. A heartfelt thank you to DAOU and Colomé for making this special occasion truly unforgettable!

    Oranje wijnen

    Sinaasappelwijn

    Sinaasappelwijn, ook wel schilcontactwijn genoemd, is eigenlijk een soort witte wijn die gemaakt wordt door het sap langere tijd in contact te laten komen met de schil van de druiven. Dit geeft ze hun karakteristieke oranje kleur, stevige tannines en intense smaken van tropisch fruit met honing, noten, zuurdesem en zelfs theebladeren. Dankzij hun gedurfde smaakprofiel passen oranje wijnen goed bij levendige gerechten zoals pittige Aziatische curry's, complexe Marokkaanse tajines of Koreaanse gerechten gemaakt met gefermenteerde kimchi.

    Belangrijke regio's met oranje wijn

    Sinaasappelwijnen worden over de hele wereld geproduceerd, maar de bakermat van de stijl zou het land Georgië zijn, in de Kaukasus. Daar kun je oranje wijnen kopen, gemaakt in grote qvevri, of klei-amforen die traditioneel met bijenwas worden afgesloten. Sinaasappelwijn is ook te vinden in de regio Friuli-Venezia Giulia in Noord-Italië en over de grens in Slovenië. Natuurlijke wijnproducenten in de VS, Australië en Zuid-Afrika experimenteren ook met nieuwe oranje wijnen.

    Sinaasappelwijn

    Sinaasappelwijn wordt gemaakt van witte druivenrassen. Italiaanse sinaasappelwijnen worden vaak gemaakt van Sauvignon Vert (Friulano), Ribolla Gialla en Pinot Grigio, terwijl in Georgië de plaatselijke druif Rkatsiteli wordt gebruikt. De Franse Vin Jaune du Jura wordt gemaakt van de plaatselijke Savagnin-druif.
