    Barolo wijnen

    Barolowijnen

    De beroemde rode wijnen van Barolo kunnen alleen in specifieke regio's van Piemonte in Noord-Italië gemaakt worden van de inheemse Nebbiolodruif. Deze druif met dunne schil produceert over het algemeen krachtige, volle rode wijnen met hoge tannines, heldere zuren en een vrij lichte baksteenrode kleur. Typische smaken en aroma's zijn rode kersen, rozenblaadjes, teer en gedroogde aromatische kruiden.

    Hoe Barolo wordt gemaakt

    Barolowijnen kunnen alleen worden geproduceerd in 11 gemeenten in de Langhe regio van Piemonte, waarvan de meest prestigieuze Barolo, La Morra, Castiglione Falletto, Serralunga d'Alba en Monforte d'Alba zijn. Nebbiolo is meestal een van de eerste variëteiten die bubreak ondergaan en heeft een lang groeiseizoen nodig om volledig te rijpen, zodat de oogst meestal eind oktober plaatsvindt. Alle Barolo wijnen moeten 18 maanden rijpen in houten vaten, met een verplichte totale rijping van minstens 38 maanden.

    Barolo wijnen zijn krachtig en intens, en kunnen in hun jeugd bijzonder tanninerijk zijn. Als je een jonge Barolo drinkt, is het goed om hem te combineren met robuuste gerechten zoals rijke wildstoofpotten, brisket, wild of rijpe harde kazen. Het aardse, aromatische karakter van Barolo spreekt ook aan bij gerechten met paddenstoelen en truffels.
