    Mousserende wijnen

    Sparklingerende wijnen

    Sparkerende wijnen worden overal ter wereld geproduceerd en zijn synoniem met feesten, festiviteiten en genieten van het goede leven. Ze zijn heerlijk als aperitief of bij oesters, kreeft, romige kazen, pittige Aziatische gerechten of salades. De bekendste methode om mousserende wijn te maken is de traditionele methode die gebruikt wordt voor Champagne, Cava en Crémant. Hier vindt de tweede gisting plaats in de fles om de bubbels te creëren. Prosecco wordt gemaakt volgens de Charmat-methode, waarbij de tweede gisting plaatsvindt in een grote afgesloten tank.

    Voornaamste mousserende wijnregio's

    Champagne, in het noorden van Frankrijk, is de bekendste regio voor mousserende wijn. Op de tweede plaats komen de regio's Veneto en Fruili-Venezia Giulia in Noord-Italië, waar Prosecco vandaan komt. De beroemdste mousserende wijn van Spanje is Cava, die voornamelijk in de kleine regio Penedes in Catalonië wordt geproduceerd. Andere belangrijke regio's voor mousserende wijn zijn de Loirevallei in Frankrijk, bekend om zijn Crémant, en delen van Californië, Australië en Nieuw-Zeeland.

    Variëteiten mousserende wijndruiven

    De bekendste mousserende wijn is Champagne, die meestal gemaakt wordt van Chardonnay, Pinot Noir of Pinot Meunier druiven. Prosecco wordt gemaakt van de Glera druif uit Italië, terwijl Cava traditioneel wordt gemaakt van de plaatselijke Xarello, Parellada en Macabeo druiven. Er zijn ook mousserende roséwijnen en mousserende rode wijnen van zwarte druiven. In Australië bijvoorbeeld wordt de Shiraz-druif gebruikt om krachtige, mousserende rode wijnen te produceren en in Frankrijk worden Cabernet Franc en Grenache vaak gebruikt om mousserende roséwijnen te maken.
