Verzamelwijnen

Verzamelwijnen worden meestal met veel zorg en aandacht voor detail gemaakt, in zeer kleine hoeveelheden. Deze wijnen worden vaak gemaakt van de beste druiven uit 's werelds meest gewaardeerde wijngaarden. Eenmaal in de kelder worden ze gevinifieerd met geavanceerde apparatuur en gerijpt in eersteklas eikenhouten vaten of kuipen.

Waarom zijn vintage wijnen zo gewild?

Vintage wijnen worden door wijnverzamelaars gewaardeerd omdat ze zeldzaam, moeilijk te vinden en zeer gewild zijn. Ze worden vaak langdurig gerijpt in eikenhouten vaten en kunnen tientallen jaren in kelders rijpen. Veel verzamelaars kopen dit soort wijnen kort nadat ze zijn uitgebracht om in hun eigen kelder te bewaren, want het is erg moeilijk en duur om rijpe verzamelwijnen op de open markt te verkrijgen. Verzamelwijnen worden vaak gekocht voor speciale gelegenheden, zoals de geboorte van een kind of een huwelijk, met het idee dat men er vele jaren later nog van kan genieten.

Belangrijke regio's voor verzamelwijnen

De belangrijkste wijnregio's voor verzamelwijnen zijn Bourgogne en Bordeaux in Frankrijk en Barolo en Toscane in Italië. Deze regio's herbergen allemaal prestigieuze producenten die kleine hoeveelheden zeer populaire wijnen en zeldzame jaargangen maken, die meestal onder strikte quota worden verkocht. Andere belangrijke regio's zijn Napa Valley en Sonoma County in Californië, waar topproducenten lange wachtlijsten hebben om hun beste wijnen te kunnen kopen.
