overall i had a positive experience, they have a wide range of wines, some which are hard to find anywhere else - the main reason i still buy from them, plus the discounts are fair and often, but... their codes for the first offer only works at the first offer, which if fine, but then why would you send me the voucher in each package i order, why spam me on the email and every time i log in on the website? this is really bothering me... then their rewards points system is useless, first of all because you only get peanuts even after spending €250 on an order, but even those peanuts will expire if you won't order again soon, which is unfair, to say the least... and lastly, if you get a corked wine, a wine with any deffect or a wine that leaked (my last order contained a bottle of $100 Caymus Cabernet with a leaking cork, which made the wine tasted cooked and flat), they have no procedure put in place for you to replace or return the wine or to get a refund or replacement - none, which is a big no no no for any wine collector... so all in all i give it 3 stars for now

Argentijnse wijnen

Wijngaarden werden in de jaren 1500 door Europese kolonisten in Argentinië geïntroduceerd en het is nu de grootste wijnproducent van Zuid-Amerika. Argentijnse wijnen hebben een reputatie van betaalbaarheid en kwaliteit, met goede Argentijnse wijnen voor alle budgetten. De zomers zijn over het algemeen heet en droog en de irrigatie wordt verzorgd door het smelten van de sneeuw uit de Andes. Dit levert rijke, sappige rode wijnen en fruitige witte wijnen op die over de hele wereld populair zijn.

De belangrijkste Argentijnse wijngebieden

De wijngebieden van Argentinië liggen in het westen van het land, bij het majestueuze Andesgebergte dat zich over de hele lengte van het land uitstrekt. In het droge noorden ligt Salta, met enkele van de hoogste wijngaarden ter wereld, op 3.000 meter boven zeeniveau. Het belangrijkste wijngebied van Argentinië is Mendoza, ten zuiden van Salta, waar de prestigieuze subregio Uco Valley ligt. Veel verder naar het zuiden ligt het winderige en afgelegen Patagonië, dat wordt beschouwd als de nieuwe grens voor de toonaangevende Argentijnse wijnmerken.

Argentijnse druivenrassen

Argentijnse wijnen zijn sterk beïnvloed door het Europese erfgoed van het land: vroege kolonisten brachten Franse en Italiaanse druivenrassen mee. De beroemdste druif van Argentinië is Malbec, die de wijngaarden van Mendoza domineert en perfect samengaat met zijn iconische steaks en gebarbecued vlees. Salta staat bekend om zijn opmerkelijk aromatische en bloemige witte wijnen uit het hoogland, gemaakt van Torrontes. Andere belangrijke Argentijnse druivenrassen zijn Cabernet Sauvignon, Bonarda en Merlot voor rode wijnen en Chardonnay en Sauvignon Blanc voor witte wijnen.
