overall i had a positive experience, they have a wide range of wines, some which are hard to find anywhere else - the main reason i still buy from them, plus the discounts are fair and often, but... their codes for the first offer only works at the first offer, which if fine, but then why would you send me the voucher in each package i order, why spam me on the email and every time i log in on the website? this is really bothering me... then their rewards points system is useless, first of all because you only get peanuts even after spending €250 on an order, but even those peanuts will expire if you won't order again soon, which is unfair, to say the least... and lastly, if you get a corked wine, a wine with any deffect or a wine that leaked (my last order contained a bottle of $100 Caymus Cabernet with a leaking cork, which made the wine tasted cooked and flat), they have no procedure put in place for you to replace or return the wine or to get a refund or replacement - none, which is a big no no no for any wine collector... so all in all i give it 3 stars for now

Super Toscaanse Wijnen

Super Tuscan wijnen

De term super Tuscan verwijst naar een Toscaans rood mengsel gemaakt van internationale druivenrassen zoals Cabernet Sauvignon of Merlot in plaats van inheemse Italiaanse rassen zoals Sangiovese. De eerste Toscaanse superrode wijnen verschenen in de jaren zeventig, met de twee beroemdste namen, Tignanello en Sassicaia, toen lokale wijnmakers experimenteerden met deze andere rassen. Tegenwoordig zijn Toscaanse superwijnen vaak krachtige rode wijnen die tientallen jaren in de kelder kunnen rijpen.

Belangrijke Toscaanse superregio's

In Toscane is de subregio Bolgheri, dicht bij de kust, bijzonder belangrijk voor Toscaanse superwijnen. Het is de thuisbasis van Sassicaia en Antinori, het wijnhuis dat Tignanello produceert. De streek kreeg zijn eigen officiële appellation in 1994, met regels die bepalen dat de wijn tot 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot of Cabernet Franc mag bevatten. Er zijn nu meer dan 50 Super Toscaanse wijngaarden in de Bolgheri appellation.

Super Toscaanse gerechten

Met hun robuuste en intense smaakprofiel passen Super Toscaanse wijnen goed bij stevige gerechten zoals de klassieke lokale stoofpot van wild zwijn of bistecca alla fiorentina. Andere goede combinaties zijn rijpe kazen zoals Pecorino Toscano of een royaal bord Italiaanse vleeswaren.
