UPS was verschrikkelijk. Eerst gaven ze de verwachte bezorgdatum door, en daarna lieten ze mijn vrouw de hele dag wachten, om uiteindelijk zonder enige waarschuwing (!) niet te bezorgen. Pas de volgende ochtend lieten ze weten dat de verwachte bezorgdatum was gewijzigd (!) en deze keer ging het wel goed. De hele dag verspild, geen mogelijkheid om de koerier te bellen. Vreselijke ervaring! Arrogante klootzakken.

UPS was horrible. First they announced the expected delivery and then they kept my wife waiting entire day and in the end did NOT deliver without any notice (!). The next morning only they advised the changed expected delivery date (!) and this time it was successful. The whole day waisted, no chance to call the courier. Awful experience! Arrogant bastards.

Winkelwijnen

Winkelwijnen worden gemaakt door kleine, vaak familiebedrijven die traditionele, ambachtelijke methoden gebruiken. Deze wijnhuizen produceren vaak niet meer dan 10.000 kisten wijn per jaar en hebben kleine percelen wijnstokken die ze met de hand oogsten. Boetiekwijnhuizen zijn vaak al meerdere generaties in de familie of zijn onlangs opgericht door jonge, innovatieve wijnmakers.

Kunstmatige wijnmaakmethoden

Omdat boetiekwijnhuizen over het algemeen zeer kleinschalig zijn, moet veel van het werk met de hand worden gedaan. In de oogsttijd helpt vaak de hele familie en de plaatselijke gemeenschap met het plukken van de druiven. Kleinschalige productie maakt het mogelijk zeer hoge kwaliteitsnormen te handhaven en meer aandacht te besteden aan details tijdens het hele wijnbereidingsproces. Boetiekwijnhuizen doen vaak het meeste werk met de hand, inclusief het bottelen en etiketteren van al hun wijnen.

Belangrijke regio's van boutique wijnen

Boutique wijnen worden overal ter wereld geproduceerd, maar er zijn bepaalde regio's waar ze vaker voorkomen. Bourgondië, in Frankrijk, is een goed voorbeeld. Volgens het erfrecht moet het eigendom gelijkelijk worden verdeeld tussen alle kinderen, wat leidt tot veel kleine wijnmakerijen waar traditionele ambachtelijke methoden als de norm worden beschouwd. Boutique wijnmakerijen zijn ook te vinden in de Nieuwe Wereld, waaronder Californië, Australië en Zuid-Afrika, waar een sterke culturele hang naar innovatie en experimenteren bestaat.
