    Vina Vik, gelegen in de afgelegen Millahue-vallei in Chili, is genoemd naar de Noorse miljardair Alexander Vik, die hier in 2004 kwam om dit ware liefdewerk te beginnen. Alexander droomde er al lang van een wijnhuis van wereldklasse te stichten in deze prachtige hoek van Chili, en besloot samen te werken met Patrick Valette, wiens familie eigenaar is van het iconische Chateau Pavie landgoed in Bordeaux.

    Het team van getalenteerde wijnmakers hier produceert nu een groeiende reeks topwijnen van de 900 hectare wijngaarden van het landgoed en verkoopt hun gewilde druiven aan andere plaatselijke wijnmakerijen. Vina Vik is hun vlaggenschipwijn die in strikt beperkte hoeveelheden wordt gemaakt. De cuvee bestaat voornamelijk uit Cabernet Sauvignon, aangevuld met Cabernet Franc, Carmenere en Merlot.

    Gedroogde viooltjes en weelderige cassis, bramen en rijpe pruimen barsten onmiddellijk uit het glas, gevolgd door diepere ondertonen van kruiden en leer van de 23 maanden rijping op eikenhouten vaten. In de mond is er een royale volle body, robuuste tannines en een intense kern van donkere bessen die op de tong blijft hangen. De kracht en weelde van deze cuvee maken het een uitstekende keuze om nog een paar jaar te bewaren of om nu van te genieten naast een eersteklas steak, gebarbecuede ribbetjes of stevige wildgerechten.
