    Het aankoopproces en de productkeuze zijn goed, maar de bezorgservice met UPS is ellendig. Ik zal helaas niet meer kopen vanwege de bezorging door UPS die zich nooit aan datum/tijd houdt en een vals excuus geeft dat ze afwezig zijn terwijl ik er was en een vrije dag heb genomen om er te zijn.

    Merryvale Vineyards werd opgericht in 1983 en is een familiebedrijf in het pittoreske stadje St. Helena, Californië. Het bedrijf heeft echter een lange geschiedenis: het historische gebouw dateert uit 1933 en was de eerste wijnmakerij die werd gebouwd na het einde van de drooglegging. Het bedrijf is beroemd om zijn wijnen op basis van Cabernet Sauvignon en Chardonnay en om de Profile Bordeaux blend.

    De Chardonnay druiven komen van blok 2A van de historische Stanly Ranch wijngaard aan de Napa kant van de Carneros AVA. De gisting vindt spontaan plaats met inheemse gisten in vaten om de volledige expressie van de aromatische kenmerken van deze wijnstok te garanderen. De afgewerkte wijn rijpt 18 maanden op droesem in Franse eiken vaten (50% nieuw).

    Het resultaat is een verfijnde en boeiende wijn. De kleur is helder met goudgele tinten. In de neus is hij geurig met aroma's van rijp fruit, jasmijn en oranjebloesem en hints van hazelnoten. In de mond is hij complex en goed gestructureerd, smeuïg en rond. Hij behoudt een duidelijke zuurgraad die typisch is voor Carneros wijnen. De afdronk is lang en fris. Perfect bij kalkoen of gerijpte kaas zoals Parmezaan of Comté.
