    Château Clarke is genoemd naar de Ierse familie die het landgoed in 1771 kocht. Na meer dan twee eeuwen wijnbouw werd het landgoed in 1973 gekocht door Baron Edmond de Rothschild die ervan droomde een kleine en intieme wijngaard te bezitten waarvan hij zijn meesterwerk zou maken. Met zijn sterke passie heeft hij Château Clarke tot een van de meest prestigieuze wijnhuizen van zijn appellation weten te maken.

    Edmond de Rothschild Château Clarke is een elegante blend van 70 % Merlot en 30 % Cabernet Sauvignon met een volstrekt originele Médoc-typologie. De nabijheid van de Atlantische Oceaan geeft het terroir een frisheid die terug te vinden is in de aromatische schittering van de wijn. Een terroir dat zeer gunstig blijkt te zijn voor de teelt van het druivenras Merlot, in een streek die traditioneel meer bekend staat om de productie van Cabernet Sauvignon.

    De wijn toont een prachtige rode kleur met paarse randen.De neus is gevuld met fijn geroosterde aroma's met sappige cedergeuren, en tonen van zwarte bessen en zwarte kersen. In de mond is hij dicht, rijk en rechtlijnig en onthult snel zijdeachtige en delicate tannines. Er is een mooie frisheid en een lange afdronk die zowel smakelijk als zoet is. Het is duidelijk een eetvriendelijke wijn en werkt heerlijk bij rundvlees.
