Het aankoopproces en de productkeuze zijn goed, maar de bezorgservice met UPS is ellendig. Ik zal helaas niet meer kopen vanwege de bezorging door UPS die zich nooit aan datum/tijd houdt en een vals excuus geeft dat ze afwezig zijn terwijl ik er was en een vrije dag heb genomen om er te zijn.

    Gelegen in het hart van het Pessac-Léognan gebied van de Bordeaux wijnstreek, maakt Château La Garde sinds 1990 deel uit van Maison Dourthe. De wijngaarden van het domein strekken zich uit over 52 hectare op een enkel perceel in de gemeente Martillac en profiteren van een zeer gevarieerd terroir (27 verschillende bodemsoorten, met aders van klei en zand) dat garant staat voor de productie van een harmonieuze en elegante wijn.

    Chateau La Garde is een blend van Merlot en Cabernet Sauvignon in bijna gelijke delen met een kleine toevoeging van Petit Verdot. Na de gisting rijpt de wijn in Franse eiken vaten, waarvan een derde nieuw is.

    De wijn onthult een diepe en briljante rode kleur met enkele nuances die naar paars neigen. Het aromaprofiel is heerlijk fruitig met tonen van rijpe aardbei en donkere pruim, aalbessen en andere wilde bessen, gevolgd door hints van tabak en zoete specerijen. In de mond is hij fris en uitbundig, sappig en intens, warm en zacht. Hij heeft een goede structuur en uitgesproken fijne tannines. De afdronk is lang met een licht kruidige nasmaak. Probeer hem eens bij een lamsrack of rosbief. Hij smaakt ook uitstekend bij halfharde kazen zoals Gouda of Mimolette.
