    Pommery werd in 1858 opgericht door Alexandre Louis Pommery en Narcisse Greno, maar pas in 1874 veranderde Alexandre's weduwe, Louise, het bedrijf in een Champagnehuis. Louise is een legendarisch figuur dankzij deze Brut Royal Champagne die als eerste werd gemaakt in deze droge stijl die nu door alle Champagneproducenten wordt gebruikt.

    Om de consistentie en kwaliteit in alle jaargangen te waarborgen, betrekt het huis druiven van 300 hectare wijngaarden in de Côtes de Blancs en de Montagne de Reims. Hierdoor kan keldermeester Thierry Gasco elk jaar de cuvee aanpassen aan de typische huisstijl. Na de vinificatie rijpen de Champagnes in de prachtige kelders van Pommery, die 18 km lang zijn, 30 meter onder de grond liggen en zijn uitgehakt in het krijtgesteente dat hier te vinden is.

    Deze historische Brut Champagne is gemaakt in een rijke en krachtige stijl met veel invloed van de lange flesrijping op de droesem. In het glas vallen meteen de fijne stroom belletjes en de delicate tonen van groene appel en citrus op. In de mond is er een zachte mousse, een heldere zuurgraad en een lange afdronk met toetsen van geroosterde brioche, vanille en een beetje kruiden.
