    Deze Cabernet Sauvignon is een klassieke, diepfruitige Californische rode wijn, boordevol rijke aroma's van bramenjam, cassis en pure chocolade, met tonen van cederhout en tabak op de achtergrond. Het is eigenlijk een overwegend Cabernet blend, met spatten van Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc, Merlot en Malbec. Het fruit is afkomstig van appellations uit heel Californië, waaronder St. Helena, Stags Leap en Rutherford.

    Joseph Phelps Vineyards werd in 1973 opgericht door de gelijknamige baanbrekende wijnmaker, die samenwerkte met Californische giganten zoals de alomtegenwoordige Robert Mondavi. Vandaag de dag bepaalt Joe Phelps nog steeds de maatstaf voor Napa Valley en Californische wijn als geheel, met zijn ongelooflijke assortiment Bordeaux en Rhône-geïnspireerde rode wijnen.

    De Cabernet Sauvignon is krachtig en vol in de mond, met een geur van zwarte bessen, pruimen, gedroogde kruiden en een selectie van bakkruiden, zoals kaneel en vanille. De wijn rijpte 16 maanden in een mengsel van Frans en Amerikaans eiken, oud en nieuw, wat zorgt voor een eikenhouten ruggengraat en stevige tannines. De knapperige zuurgraad verhoogt de drinkervaring en voert hem door naar de dorstlessende afdronk. Denk eens aan een combinatie met gegrilde steak, lamsvlees of hard gerijpte kazen.
