    De Petit Castel is de tweede wijn van Domaine du Castel en wordt gemaakt in een klassieke Bordeaux-stijl van Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc en Malbec druiven afkomstig van de beste percelen van het landgoed. Na de vinificatie rijpt de wijn 12 maanden in Franse eikenhouten vaten en vervolgens nog eens 4 maanden in betonnen tanks voordat hij wordt gebotteld.

    Op de neus zijn er verleidelijke hints van geplette donkere bessen, wilde rozen en leer, terwijl de eerste slok een rijke volle body, soepele tannines en een heldere zuurgraad onthult die de wijn zal helpen om de komende ongeveer vijf jaar sierlijk oud te worden. De uitstekende balans tussen rijpe fruitsmaken en een stevige structuur maken dit een geweldige wijn om te combineren met eten, vooral met roodvleesgerechten zoals een fijne steak, stoofpot van rundvlees of zelfs wild.

    Domaine du Castel werd in 1988 opgericht door Eli Ben Zaken die vanuit Milaan naar Israël was geëmigreerd en een kleine boerderij in de buurt van Jeruzalem kocht. Hij plantte de eerste moderne wijngaard in de Judeese heuvels en kreeg ongelooflijk positieve reacties op zijn eerste wijn, de Grand Vin, die hij nog steeds in zeer beperkte hoeveelheden produceert.
