Een onvergetelijke verjaardag met DAOU & Colomé Het vieren van mijn moeders verjaardag werd nog specialer dankzij twee ongelooflijke wijnen - DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 en Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. De ster van de avond was ongetwijfeld de DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. Vanaf de eerste slok werden we omarmd door een rijke, fluweelzachte smaak. De diepe aroma's van donker fruit, hints van cacao en perfect gebalanceerd eikenhout zorgden ervoor dat elk glas aanvoelde als een ware verwennerij. Hij was gedurfd en toch elegant, een wijn die moeiteloos warmte en vreugde bracht aan onze bijeenkomst. Toen ik mijn moeder elke slok met een glimlach zag proeven, was het des te gedenkwaardiger. De Colomé Auténtico Malbec leverde ook prachtig, met zijn pure expressie van hooggelegen Malbec. Hij was krachtig, met rijpe bramen, kruiden en een zachte, aanhoudende afdronk - een uitstekende aanvulling op de avond. Deze wijnen versterkten niet alleen onze maaltijd; ze werden een deel van de viering, waardoor elke toast en elk gesprek een hoogtepunt werd. Hartelijk dank aan DAOU en Colomé voor het onvergetelijk maken van deze speciale gelegenheid!

    A Birthday to Remember with DAOU & Colomé Celebrating my mother’s birthday was made even more special thanks to two incredible wines—DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 and Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. The star of the evening was undoubtedly the DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. From the first sip, it enveloped us in its rich, velvety embrace. The deep dark fruit flavors, hints of cocoa, and perfectly balanced oak made every glass feel like a true indulgence. It was bold yet elegant, a wine that effortlessly brought warmth and joy to our gathering. Seeing my mother savor each sip with a smile made it all the more memorable. The Colomé Auténtico Malbec also delivered beautifully, with its pure expression of high-altitude Malbec. It was powerful, with ripe blackberries, spice, and a smooth, lingering finish—an excellent complement to the evening. These wines didn’t just enhance our meal; they became part of the celebration, elevating every toast and conversation. A heartfelt thank you to DAOU and Colomé for making this special occasion truly unforgettable!

    Deze elegante mousserende wijn opent met tonen van honingraat, limoen en citrusschil en een fijne stroom kleine belletjes die lang in het glas blijven hangen. De eerste slok onthult een soepele mousse vergezeld van aantrekkelijke smaken van witte perzik, gebakken peer en oranjebloesem en een heldere frisheid om het gehemelte te verfrissen. De knapperigheid van de Chardonnay maakt dit een uitstekend aperitief of partner voor verse zeevruchten, zalm en zomerse salades.

    Gelegen in Napa Valley in Californië is Domaine Carneros een van Amerika's beste producenten van methóde traditionnelle mousserende wijn. Het domein is opgericht door het Champagnehuis Taittinger nadat Claude Taittinger eind jaren zeventig grondig had gezocht naar uitstekend terroir in Napa dat geschikt zou zijn voor het maken van Amerika's equivalent van de beroemde Franse bubbels.

    In 1987 kocht Claude Taittinger een ideaal terrein van 138 hectare in Napa. Eileen Crane werd aangesteld om toezicht te houden op de operatie en wordt tegenwoordig beschouwd als Amerika's meest ervaren sprankelende wijnmaker. Crane dringt aan op een uitzonderlijk niveau van kwaliteitscontrole tijdens het hele wijnbereidingsproces, waarbij de druiven 's nachts met de hand worden geoogst en zorgvuldig worden vervoerd in ondiepe bakken om schade aan het fruit tot een minimum te beperken. Ze gebruikt ook alleen de eerste persingen om de best mogelijke kwaliteit wijnen te produceren.
