Een onvergetelijke verjaardag met DAOU & Colomé Het vieren van mijn moeders verjaardag werd nog specialer dankzij twee ongelooflijke wijnen - DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 en Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. De ster van de avond was ongetwijfeld de DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. Vanaf de eerste slok werden we omarmd door een rijke, fluweelzachte smaak. De diepe aroma's van donker fruit, hints van cacao en perfect gebalanceerd eikenhout zorgden ervoor dat elk glas aanvoelde als een ware verwennerij. Hij was gedurfd en toch elegant, een wijn die moeiteloos warmte en vreugde bracht aan onze bijeenkomst. Toen ik mijn moeder elke slok met een glimlach zag proeven, was het des te gedenkwaardiger. De Colomé Auténtico Malbec leverde ook prachtig, met zijn pure expressie van hooggelegen Malbec. Hij was krachtig, met rijpe bramen, kruiden en een zachte, aanhoudende afdronk - een uitstekende aanvulling op de avond. Deze wijnen versterkten niet alleen onze maaltijd; ze werden een deel van de viering, waardoor elke toast en elk gesprek een hoogtepunt werd. Hartelijk dank aan DAOU en Colomé voor het onvergetelijk maken van deze speciale gelegenheid!

    A Birthday to Remember with DAOU & Colomé Celebrating my mother’s birthday was made even more special thanks to two incredible wines—DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 and Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. The star of the evening was undoubtedly the DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. From the first sip, it enveloped us in its rich, velvety embrace. The deep dark fruit flavors, hints of cocoa, and perfectly balanced oak made every glass feel like a true indulgence. It was bold yet elegant, a wine that effortlessly brought warmth and joy to our gathering. Seeing my mother savor each sip with a smile made it all the more memorable. The Colomé Auténtico Malbec also delivered beautifully, with its pure expression of high-altitude Malbec. It was powerful, with ripe blackberries, spice, and a smooth, lingering finish—an excellent complement to the evening. These wines didn’t just enhance our meal; they became part of the celebration, elevating every toast and conversation. A heartfelt thank you to DAOU and Colomé for making this special occasion truly unforgettable!

    Chateau Gloria is een opkomend Bordeaux-landgoed dat een toegewijde aanhang heeft verworven voor zijn toegankelijke maar leeftijdswaardige wijnen. Ondanks zijn niet-geclassificeerde status kan dit landgoed in St-Julien zich gemakkelijk meten met prestigieuzere chateaux dankzij de visie en vooruitziende blik van Henri Martin, die het landgoed in 1942 overnam. Henri kocht veelbelovende wijngaarden op van gerenommeerde wijnhuizen als Talbot, Lagrange en Léoville-Barton, en halverwege de jaren zestig had hij zo'n 50 hectare verspreid over de appellation.

    Het domein wordt tegenwoordig gerund door Henri's schoonzoon Jean-Louis Triaud, die ook de leiding heeft over de andere domeinen van de familie, waaronder het Grand Cru Chateau St. Pierre. Hun Grand Vin is voornamelijk samengesteld uit Cabernet Sauvignon samen met een kleiner aandeel Merlot en een druppel Cabernet Franc en Petit Verdot. De jonge wijn rijpt 14 maanden in 40% nieuwe Franse eikenhouten vaten voordat hij wordt gebotteld.

    Chateau Gloria neigt naar een lichtere, meer elegante expressie van St-Julien dan sommige van zijn buren, hoewel hij nog steeds een weelderige kern van donker fruit heeft en het beste gedurende enkele jaren na de oogst in de kelder kan worden bewaard. In de neus zijn er weelderige tonen van cassis, braam en donkere kersen die in de mond in toom worden gehouden door een zachte zuurgraad, stevige tannines en een goed ontwikkelde structuur.
