    Chateau Couhins Lurton heeft een lange geschiedenis die teruggaat tot het einde van de 17e eeuw. In die tijd heette het landgoed, gelegen in de gemeente Villenave d'Ornon, Bourdieu de La Gravette en behoorde het toe aan een beroemde advocaat uit Bordeaux. Het bedrijf werd vervolgens in twee tranches tussen 1972 en 1992 gekocht door André Lurton, waarmee officieel Chateau Couhins Lurton werd gecreëerd met hun eerste wijnrelease in 2002. Het kasteel wordt omringd door tuinen die in de 19e eeuw zijn ontworpen door landschapsarchitect Lebretone en onlangs zijn gerenoveerd door Anouk Debarre.

    Château Couhins-Lurton, Cru Classé de Graves, wordt geproduceerd met 100% Sauvignon Blanc druiven, afkomstig van wijnstokken van meer dan 25 jaar oud, geplant op klei-kiezel-kalksteen bodems. Deze terroiromstandigheden zorgen voor frisheid en een groot rijpingsvermogen. De afgewerkte wijn rijpt 10 maanden op eikenhout.

    De wijn heeft een heldere strogele kleur en een aromatisch karakter. De neus onthult frisse tonen van citrusvruchten en witte bloemen, kamperfoelie en kweepeer, gevolgd door hints van kruiden. In de mond is hij sappig, knapperig en rond, met een sterke minerale ader en een verfrissende zuurgraad die zorgt voor een harmonieuze en elegante afdronk. Het is de ideale wijn bij zeevruchten en heeft alle complexiteit die nodig is om een paar jaar in de kelder te blijven.
