Een onvergetelijke verjaardag met DAOU & Colomé Het vieren van mijn moeders verjaardag werd nog specialer dankzij twee ongelooflijke wijnen - DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 en Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. De ster van de avond was ongetwijfeld de DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. Vanaf de eerste slok werden we omarmd door een rijke, fluweelzachte smaak. De diepe aroma's van donker fruit, hints van cacao en perfect gebalanceerd eikenhout zorgden ervoor dat elk glas aanvoelde als een ware verwennerij. Hij was gedurfd en toch elegant, een wijn die moeiteloos warmte en vreugde bracht aan onze bijeenkomst. Toen ik mijn moeder elke slok met een glimlach zag proeven, was het des te gedenkwaardiger. De Colomé Auténtico Malbec leverde ook prachtig, met zijn pure expressie van hooggelegen Malbec. Hij was krachtig, met rijpe bramen, kruiden en een zachte, aanhoudende afdronk - een uitstekende aanvulling op de avond. Deze wijnen versterkten niet alleen onze maaltijd; ze werden een deel van de viering, waardoor elke toast en elk gesprek een hoogtepunt werd. Hartelijk dank aan DAOU en Colomé voor het onvergetelijk maken van deze speciale gelegenheid!

    A Birthday to Remember with DAOU & Colomé Celebrating my mother’s birthday was made even more special thanks to two incredible wines—DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 and Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. The star of the evening was undoubtedly the DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. From the first sip, it enveloped us in its rich, velvety embrace. The deep dark fruit flavors, hints of cocoa, and perfectly balanced oak made every glass feel like a true indulgence. It was bold yet elegant, a wine that effortlessly brought warmth and joy to our gathering. Seeing my mother savor each sip with a smile made it all the more memorable. The Colomé Auténtico Malbec also delivered beautifully, with its pure expression of high-altitude Malbec. It was powerful, with ripe blackberries, spice, and a smooth, lingering finish—an excellent complement to the evening. These wines didn’t just enhance our meal; they became part of the celebration, elevating every toast and conversation. A heartfelt thank you to DAOU and Colomé for making this special occasion truly unforgettable!

    De Rosso Ca del Merlo is een soort "Super Valpolicella", een klassieke, krachtige blend die de regels van de Valpolicella DOC breekt. Hij is gemaakt van de traditionele Corvina, Corvinone en Rondinella druiven, samen met een 15% portie Cabernet Sauvignon Cabernet Franc, Nebbiolo, Croatina en Sangiovese - allemaal geoogst van één enkele wijngaard in het hart van Veneto.

    Giuseppe Quintarelli en zijn gewaardeerde familie zijn al meer dan honderd jaar trendsetters in de regio's Valpolicella en Amarone. Hoewel ze bekend staan om hun standvastige traditionele aanpak, breekt deze rode wijn een beetje. Hij begint met rijke geuren van cassis, paarse bloemen, sinaasappelschil en houtachtige kruiden.

    In de mond breidt Ca del Merlo zich uit naar zijdezachte tanninetexturen, met een droge, kruidige puurheid. Hoewel de druiven dubbel werden gefermenteerd met overgebleven Amarone-schillen in de klassieke Valpolicella Ripasso stijl, is hij opmerkelijk fris, met wrange citrustonen en sappige haagbessen. De wijn rijpte nog eens 7 jaar in vaten van Slavonisch eiken voordat hij werd vrijgegeven. Voor liefhebbers van Valpolicella die op zoek zijn naar een nieuwe draai aan een klassieker. Denk aan een combinatie met stoofvlees, pizza of pasta met tomatensaus.
