    Het aankoopproces en de productkeuze zijn goed, maar de bezorgservice met UPS is ellendig. Ik zal helaas niet meer kopen vanwege de bezorging door UPS die zich nooit aan datum/tijd houdt en een vals excuus geeft dat ze afwezig zijn terwijl ik er was en een vrije dag heb genomen om er te zijn.

    Het verhaal van La Spinetta gaat terug tot de jaren 1890, toen Giovanni Rivetti vanuit zijn geboorteland Piemonte vertrok om fortuin te maken in Argentinië. Giovanni droomde ervan naar huis terug te keren om met pensioen te gaan en zijn eigen wijnmakerij te stichten, maar het zou zijn kleinzoon Giuseppe zijn die deze ambitie uiteindelijk in 1977 verwezenlijkte. Toen Giusppe het wijnhuis in Castagnole Lanze oprichtte was de regio vooral bekend om zijn zoete Moscato d'Asti wijnen, maar de Rivettis brachten een visie mee om topkwaliteit wijnen te maken van het uitzonderlijke lokale terroir.

    In 2000, na veel succes met het maken van grote rode wijnen op het landgoed, besloot de familie land te kopen in Barolo. Ze bouwden een hypermoderne kelder op hun landgoed in Grinzane Cavour en begonnen deze uitzonderlijke Barolo te maken van de beste druiven op het landgoed. Deze wijnstokken hebben een gemiddelde leeftijd van 70 jaar en produceren uitzonderlijk geconcentreerd fruit.

    Na de vinificatie wordt de jonge wijn 24 maanden gerijpt in Franse eiken vaten, gevolgd door nog minstens 12 maanden rijping in de fles. In de neus vind je alle klassieke Barolo tonen, waaronder rozenblaadjes, gebakken aarde, teer en hints van gedroogde kruiden en heldere bessen. Vanaf de eerste slok is dit een gulle, volle wijn met de typische stevige tannines van Nebbiolo, die de komende tien jaar zeer goed zal reageren op een langere rijping.
