    La Vallana is een gerenommeerd Piemontees wijnhuis in de provincie Novara, beroemd om zijn uitstekende productie van Nebbiolo wijnen uit Alto Piemonte.

    De Nebbiolo druiven, hier Spanna genoemd, worden geselecteerd en geoogst in het productiegebied van de recente DOC Colline Novaresi, gelegen in Alto Piemonte. De vinificatie vindt plaats in betonnen vaten en de wijn rijpt ongeveer 2 jaar voordat hij op de markt wordt gebracht. Spanna is een van de meest representatieve wijnen van het bedrijf; een Nebbiolo vol persoonlijkheid met een uniek en interessant karakter dat heel anders is dan die van de Langhe.

    De wijn heeft een heldere robijnrode kleur en een breed en intens aromatisch profiel met tonen van rood fruit, kruiden en bloemen (vooral roos en viooltjes), hints van kreupelhout en tabak. In de mond onthult hij een goede structuur, een elegant fruitig karakter en een gemiddelde body. De tannines zijn rijp en goed geïntegreerd. De afdronk is lang en fruitig. Het is een zeer toegankelijke wijn die nu gedronken kan worden, maar ook nog een paar jaar in de kelder kan blijven. Probeer hem eens bij fettuccine met eekhoorntjesbrood of bij een gemengd bord met vleeswaren en gerijpte kazen.
