Het aankoopproces en de productkeuze zijn goed, maar de bezorgservice met UPS is ellendig. Ik zal helaas niet meer kopen vanwege de bezorging door UPS die zich nooit aan datum/tijd houdt en een vals excuus geeft dat ze afwezig zijn terwijl ik er was en een vrije dag heb genomen om er te zijn.

    Giuseppe Rivetti richtte La Spinetta op in 1977, toen hij het potentieel herkende van het plaatselijke terroir dat destijds vooral bekend stond om zijn goedkope en vrolijke Moscato d'Asti dessertwijnen. In de loop der decennia hebben Giuseppe en zijn zoon Giorgio geholpen de regio op de kaart te zetten voor Italiaanse kwaliteitswijnen en ze hebben ook uitgebreid naar nieuwe terroirs in Barolo en Toscane.

    De Barbera d'Asti Ca di Pian van de familie was de allereerste rode wijn van La Spinetta, die Giorgio in 1985 voor het eerst maakte. Het fruit voor deze lichte en verfrissende rode wijn is afkomstig van 25-30 jaar oude wijnstokken, geplant op kalkrijke grond. Eenmaal in de wijnmakerij worden de druiven gevinifieerd in roestvrijstalen tanks en vervolgens 12 maanden gerijpt in Franse eiken vaten.

    Maraschinokersen, gedroogde viooltjes en rijpe pruimen kenmerken de neus, terwijl de eerste slok een medium body onthult, soepele, goed afgeronde tannines en een zuivere afdronk vol donkere bessen en subtiele kruidige hints. Perfect uitgebalanceerd en zeer gemakkelijk te drinken, is dit een geweldige rode wijn om te serveren bij wild, kalfsvlees of zelfs een royaal bord met vleeswaren en gerijpte harde kazen.
