    Deze Barbera d'Alba begint met een helder boeket van rood fruit, aangevuld met tabaksrook, zoethout, leer, eikenhout en kruidige hints van cola. Hij is gemaakt van 100% Barbera, geplukt van een klein perceel op het Baricchi landgoed, waar de wijnstokken groeien op kleiachtige, mineraalrijke grond.

    Cascina Baricchi werd in 1989 opgericht door Natale Simonetta en zijn vrouw Francesca. Het is een kleinschalig familiebedrijf in de Langhe regio van Piemonte, in Noord-Italië. De regio staat bekend om zijn druiven van hoge kwaliteit, dankzij de bemiddelende invloed van de Alpen in het noorden en de Middellandse Zee in het zuiden.

    Dit is een klassieke Barbera d'Alba, barstensvol hoge zuren, evenwichtige, fijnkorrelige tannines en een staalhard, helder karakter. De vruchten werden gefermenteerd in roestvrijstalen tanks en rijpten daarna 2 jaar in neutrale vaten. Er worden elk jaar slechts 6.000 flessen Riva della Coda uitgebracht. In de mond ontdek je tonen van aardbei, framboos en rode kers, met complexe ondertonen van leer, vanille en gedroogde kruiden. Het is een geweldige wijn om te combineren met aardse gerechten op basis van paddenstoelen en verschillende soorten rood vlees.
