    Het aankoopproces en de productkeuze zijn goed, maar de bezorgservice met UPS is ellendig. Ik zal helaas niet meer kopen vanwege de bezorging door UPS die zich nooit aan datum/tijd houdt en een vals excuus geeft dat ze afwezig zijn terwijl ik er was en een vrije dag heb genomen om er te zijn.

    Het Australische Thistledown wijnhuis werd opgericht in 2010 en produceert wijnen van uitstekende kwaliteit door druiven te selecteren van de beste telers in verschillende subregio's in het zuiden van het land, zoals Adelaide Hills, Barossa Valley, McLaren Vale en Langhorne Creek. Het bedrijf richt zich op de productie van Grenache en Syrah en probeert zo goed mogelijk de maximale expressie van deze wijnstokken en de prachtige terroirs van Australië te weerspiegelen.

    Grenache druiven worden geselecteerd en met de hand geoogst van oude wijnstokken in enkele van McLaren Vale's beste wijngaarden op zanderige, mineraalrijke bodems. De vinificatie gebeurt apart per perceel, de gisting begint spontaan en de afgewerkte wijn rust 10 maanden in eikenhouten vaten.

    Thorny Devil Grenache is een fascinerende wijn die ruikt naar rode specerijen en bloemen, rode kersen, bosbessen en aardbeien, met hints van zwarte thee. In de mond is hij sappig en fruitig, smaakvol en elegant met zachte tannines en een evenwichtige ader van frisheid. De afdronk is lang en zacht kruidig. Het is een wijn die klaar is om op dronk te komen, maar die zich elegant kan ontwikkelen met een paar jaar in de kelder. Probeer hem eens bij lamsvlees of pittige Indiase kiprecepten.
