Een onvergetelijke verjaardag met DAOU & Colomé Het vieren van mijn moeders verjaardag werd nog specialer dankzij twee ongelooflijke wijnen - DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 en Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. De ster van de avond was ongetwijfeld de DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. Vanaf de eerste slok werden we omarmd door een rijke, fluweelzachte smaak. De diepe aroma's van donker fruit, hints van cacao en perfect gebalanceerd eikenhout zorgden ervoor dat elk glas aanvoelde als een ware verwennerij. Hij was gedurfd en toch elegant, een wijn die moeiteloos warmte en vreugde bracht aan onze bijeenkomst. Toen ik mijn moeder elke slok met een glimlach zag proeven, was het des te gedenkwaardiger. De Colomé Auténtico Malbec leverde ook prachtig, met zijn pure expressie van hooggelegen Malbec. Hij was krachtig, met rijpe bramen, kruiden en een zachte, aanhoudende afdronk - een uitstekende aanvulling op de avond. Deze wijnen versterkten niet alleen onze maaltijd; ze werden een deel van de viering, waardoor elke toast en elk gesprek een hoogtepunt werd. Hartelijk dank aan DAOU en Colomé voor het onvergetelijk maken van deze speciale gelegenheid!

    A Birthday to Remember with DAOU & Colomé Celebrating my mother’s birthday was made even more special thanks to two incredible wines—DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 and Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. The star of the evening was undoubtedly the DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. From the first sip, it enveloped us in its rich, velvety embrace. The deep dark fruit flavors, hints of cocoa, and perfectly balanced oak made every glass feel like a true indulgence. It was bold yet elegant, a wine that effortlessly brought warmth and joy to our gathering. Seeing my mother savor each sip with a smile made it all the more memorable. The Colomé Auténtico Malbec also delivered beautifully, with its pure expression of high-altitude Malbec. It was powerful, with ripe blackberries, spice, and a smooth, lingering finish—an excellent complement to the evening. These wines didn’t just enhance our meal; they became part of the celebration, elevating every toast and conversation. A heartfelt thank you to DAOU and Colomé for making this special occasion truly unforgettable!

    Een project van het wijnhuis Folonari van het beroemde Chianti landgoed Tenute di Nozzole, de Tenute del Cabreo werd in 1967 gekocht door Nino Folonari. Het landgoed beslaat ongeveer 60 hectare, waarvan er 45 zijn beplant met Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon en Merlot, voor een echte Super Tuscan die sinds 1982 de smaakpapillen verrukt.

    De steenachtige bodem en de dichte beplanting van de wijnstokken leveren een lage opbrengst op, maar druiven die geconcentreerd en complex zijn, wat resulteert in intense, leeftijdswaardige wijnen. De gisting vindt plaats in roestvrijstalen tanks met een langere maceratietijd voor extra kleur, body en tannine. De wijn brengt 24 maanden door in Franse eiken vaten en nog eens zes maanden in de fles voordat hij wordt vrijgegeven.

    Op de neus is de Cabreo Il Borgo fruitgedreven met zwarte bessen, gestoofde pruimen en gedroogde rode kersen in de eerste vleug. Secundaire tonen van leer, teer en zoet eikenhout stelen ook even de aandacht. Het gehemelte is pluche en zijdeachtig met zachte tannines en een delicate zuurgraad. Kersen, zoethout en vanille mengen zich met het sigarenkistje voor een mooie, gedurfde wijn die goed past bij lamsvlees, gevogelte, rundvlees en harde kazen.
