    Tenuta dell'Ornellaia is een van de beroemdste wijnhuizen van Italië dankzij de visie en toewijding van de oprichter Marchese Lodovico Antinori. Hij is de broer van Piero Antinori die Tenuta Tignanello oprichtte, en toevallig ook de neef van Mario Incisa della Rocchetta die Tenuta San Guido oprichtte waar Sassicaia wordt gemaakt. Gezien de ambitie en het concurrentievermogen van zijn familieleden is het niet verwonderlijk dat Lodovico een van de eersten was die Super Tuscans van topkwaliteit produceerde in Toscane's kuststreek Bolgheri.

    De tweede wijn van het landgoed, Le Serre Nuove, is niet zo bekend als Ornellaia, maar zijn uitzonderlijke smaakprofiel en grote waarde maken het een verleidelijke optie voor elke Super Tuscan liefhebber. De wijn wordt gemaakt van de jongere wijngaarden van het landgoed en is een complexe Bordeaux-achtige blend van Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc en Petit Verdot.

    Elk ras wordt apart gevinifieerd om maximale controle te hebben over de uiteindelijke blend. De jonge wijnen rijpen 12 maanden in eikenhouten vaten voordat ze worden gemengd met nog eens 3 maanden rijping om alle componenten volledig te integreren voordat ze worden gebotteld. Het resultaat is een sierlijke Toscaanse rode wijn die opent met verleidelijke tonen van braam, framboos en rode kers, samen met wilde roos, zoethout en zwarte peperkorrels. De stevige tanninestructuur en de polish maken dit een geweldige wijn om te serveren bij stevige rode vleesgerechten of om nog een paar jaar te bewaren.
