    Het aankoopproces en de productkeuze zijn goed, maar de bezorgservice met UPS is ellendig. Ik zal helaas niet meer kopen vanwege de bezorging door UPS die zich nooit aan datum/tijd houdt en een vals excuus geeft dat ze afwezig zijn terwijl ik er was en een vrije dag heb genomen om er te zijn.

    Gelegen in de provincie Verona, in de historische wijk Negrar, in het hart van het Valpolicella Classico wijngebied, wordt het wijnhuis Mazzi sinds 1960 geleid door Roberto Mazzi, tegenwoordig bijgestaan door zijn zonen Stefano en Antonio. Het bedrijf, dat al sinds het begin van de 20e eeuw wijn produceert, bezit ongeveer 7 hectare wijngaarden, Calcarole, Castel, Poiega en Villa genaamd, die de druiven voor de Recioto en Amarone della Valpolicella Classico en Valpolicella Classico Superiore produceren.

    Deze wijn is een blend van de lokale variëteiten Corvina, Rondinella, met kleine toevoegingen van Corvinone en Molinara. De druiven zijn afkomstig van de Villa wijngaard. Na de oogst laten we de druiven drogen tot half februari. Dan vindt de gisting plaats bij een gecontroleerde temperatuur in stalen tanks gedurende ongeveer 21 dagen. De afgewerkte wijn rijpt vervolgens 4 jaar in eikenhouten vaten en tonneaux.

    Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Punta di Villa heeft een intens rode kleur met robijnrode reflecties en een breed aromatisch profiel met rijpe rode fruittonen en kruidige hints. In de mond is de wijn rond, robuust en warm. Hij heeft een volle body en een lange afdronk met vage bittere tonen. De perfecte wijn voor gestoofd wild of rood vlees.
