The Manincor estate has a noble history which dates back to 1608 when Hieronymus Manincor began construction on land awarded to him by the emperor in return for his loyalty and service. Located in the autonomous Italian province of South Tyrol, this Bordeaux-style blend is a careful composition of 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc from the estate’s distinctive Alpine vineyards.

The Merlot is sourced from old vines in the Tatzenschrot vineyard which is one of the warmest in the province, while the Cabernet Franc hails from the Seehof vineyard whose clay, lime and gravel soils help to craft elegant, concentrated red wines.

After a very long fermentation and maceration on the skins which can last up to four weeks, the wine is matured in oak barrels for 20 months to harmonise and unify the blend. The result is a well-structured wine which displays assertive tannins and enticing hints of sweet red berries, leather and smoky tobacco which make it a great partner for barbecued meats. Thanks to the bright acidity and generous body, this bottle is an ideal candidate for extended ageing and will continue to develop and change over the course of the next decade.
