    Kistler Vineyards, gelegen in het Californische wijngebied Sonoma County, is een klein familiebedrijf, opgericht door Steve Kistler, en beroemd om zijn productie van Chardonnay- en Pinot Noir-wijnen in Bourgondische stijl. Het bedrijf was een van de eerste producenten die het gebruik van kleine nieuwe eiken vaten en malolactische gisting voor Chardonnay in Californië introduceerde, waardoor rijke en fruitige Chardonnays ontstonden die sindsdien representatief zijn geworden voor de Californische stijl. De druiven zijn afkomstig van een selectie wijngaarden met een lage opbrengst, verdeeld over de AVA's Carneros, Sonoma Valley, Russian River Valley en Sonoma Coast. De resulterende wijnen zijn dicht en geconcentreerd met een elegante harmonie van aroma's en een uitgesproken frisheid.

    Deze Pinot Noir is een wijn van uitzonderlijke concentratie. De neus onthult intense aroma's van rode en blauwe bessen met lichte minerale tonen. In de mond is hij evenwichtig en zijdeachtig met een gemiddelde body. Het is een levendige en fruitige wijn, maar met een duidelijke ader van zuurgraad dankzij de nabijheid van de Stille Oceaan die zorgt voor een langzame rijping van de druiven. De tannines zijn zacht en de afdronk is lang, elegant en mineraal. Zoals de meeste Pinot Noirs combineert hij goed met eendenvlees, maar zijn concentratie maakt hem ook perfect voor gegrild varkensvlees.
