A Birthday to Remember with DAOU & Colomé Celebrating my mother’s birthday was made even more special thanks to two incredible wines—DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 and Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. The star of the evening was undoubtedly the DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. From the first sip, it enveloped us in its rich, velvety embrace. The deep dark fruit flavors, hints of cocoa, and perfectly balanced oak made every glass feel like a true indulgence. It was bold yet elegant, a wine that effortlessly brought warmth and joy to our gathering. Seeing my mother savor each sip with a smile made it all the more memorable. The Colomé Auténtico Malbec also delivered beautifully, with its pure expression of high-altitude Malbec. It was powerful, with ripe blackberries, spice, and a smooth, lingering finish—an excellent complement to the evening. These wines didn’t just enhance our meal; they became part of the celebration, elevating every toast and conversation. A heartfelt thank you to DAOU and Colomé for making this special occasion truly unforgettable!

    Een onvergetelijke verjaardag met DAOU & Colomé Het vieren van mijn moeders verjaardag werd nog specialer dankzij twee ongelooflijke wijnen - DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 en Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. De ster van de avond was ongetwijfeld de DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. Vanaf de eerste slok werden we omarmd door een rijke, fluweelzachte smaak. De diepe aroma's van donker fruit, hints van cacao en perfect gebalanceerd eikenhout zorgden ervoor dat elk glas aanvoelde als een ware verwennerij. Hij was gedurfd en toch elegant, een wijn die moeiteloos warmte en vreugde bracht aan onze bijeenkomst. Toen ik mijn moeder elke slok met een glimlach zag proeven, was het des te gedenkwaardiger. De Colomé Auténtico Malbec leverde ook prachtig, met zijn pure expressie van hooggelegen Malbec. Hij was krachtig, met rijpe bramen, kruiden en een zachte, aanhoudende afdronk - een uitstekende aanvulling op de avond. Deze wijnen versterkten niet alleen onze maaltijd; ze werden een deel van de viering, waardoor elke toast en elk gesprek een hoogtepunt werd. Hartelijk dank aan DAOU en Colomé voor het onvergetelijk maken van deze speciale gelegenheid!

    François Chidaine is een getalenteerde en gepassioneerde wijnmaker, die na jaren in het familiebedrijf te hebben gewerkt, in 1989 besloot zijn eigen wijngaarden aan te kopen en zijn eigen wijnmakerij te beginnen in Montlouis-sur-Loire. Zijn landgoed beslaat vandaag de dag bijna 45 hectare wijngaarden, voornamelijk verdeeld over de appellatie Montlouis-sur-Loire, met percelen in Vouvray en Touraine. Sinds 1992 is het bedrijf overgeschakeld op biologisch en in 1999 op biologisch-dynamisch.

    De Sauvignon Blanc druiven zijn afkomstig van wijngaarden in de gemeenten van de Cher vallei, zoals Chissay-en-Touraine en Saint-Julien-de-Chédon op klei-kalksteen bodems. De oogst is handmatig en de gisting gebeurt spontaan met inheemse gisten bij lage temperaturen. De wijn wordt vervolgens geraffineerd op de droesem voordat hij wordt gebotteld.

    Deze Touraine Sauvignon Blanc is een droge en magere witte wijn. Hij heeft een heldere en briljante strogele kleur. Het aromatische profiel is fris en delicaat met aroma's van citrus, wit fruit en wilde bloemen. In de mond is hij levendig en sappig met uitstekende zuren. Hij heeft een lichte body en een frisse afdronk. Hij is perfect bij gegrilde vis en zeevruchtensalades. Gekoeld geserveerd is het ook een uitstekend aperitief.
