    Het aankoopproces en de productkeuze zijn goed, maar de bezorgservice met UPS is ellendig. Ik zal helaas niet meer kopen vanwege de bezorging door UPS die zich nooit aan datum/tijd houdt en een vals excuus geeft dat ze afwezig zijn terwijl ik er was en een vrije dag heb genomen om er te zijn.

    Geklasseerd als Grand Cru Classe door de Classificatie van 1855, is Chateau Coutet een van de topproducenten in de Barsac subregio van Sauternes. Barsac is beroemd om zijn weelderig zoete dessertwijnen dankzij de nabijgelegen rivier de Ciron, het relatief vlakke land en de lichte kiezelgrond. Deze omstandigheden zorgen voor rijke herfstmist die de groei bevordert van de zogenaamde "edelrot", een soort schimmel die helpt de suikerconcentratie in de druiven te verhogen door de schillen te doorboren en water te laten verdampen.

    Deze majestueuze botteling van Chateau Coutet bestaat voornamelijk uit Semillon, samen met een kleiner deel Sauvignon Blanc en een vleugje Muscadelle. De druiven worden laat geplukt, zodat ze de tijd hebben om besmet te raken met edelrot en een rijke dessertwijn te creëren met een hoog restsuikergehalte. De jonge wijn rijpt 18 maanden in Franse eiken vaten om subtiele geroosterde tonen en extra complexiteit toe te voegen.

    Dit is een uitstekende wijn om nog een tiental jaren in de kelder te bewaren, want hij heeft nog een aanzienlijk potentieel voor evolutie en rijping. Als je hem nu toch drinkt, is de intense zoetheid een uitstekende partner voor foie gras, blauwe kazen of rijke chocolade- of fruitdesserts.
