    Het aankoopproces en de productkeuze zijn goed, maar de bezorgservice met UPS is ellendig. Ik zal helaas niet meer kopen vanwege de bezorging door UPS die zich nooit aan datum/tijd houdt en een vals excuus geeft dat ze afwezig zijn terwijl ik er was en een vrije dag heb genomen om er te zijn.

    Uitgestrekt over 33 hectare wijngaarden gelegen in Ballard Canyon in de Santa Ynez Valley, is Jonata vandaag de dag een van de meest interessante wijnhuizen in Californië en produceert wijnen van uitstekende kwaliteit van internationale wijnstokken, op een uniek en buitengewoon terroir met zandbodems. De landbouw- en vinificatiepraktijken worden gevolgd door een ervaren en getalenteerd team onder leiding van wijngaardmanager Ruben Solorzano en wijnmaker Matt Dees.

    De Fenix van wijnhuis Jonata is een klassieke Bordeaux-stijl blend met een meerderheid van Merlot en enkele toevoegingen van Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot en Cabernet Franc. De druiven worden geoogst van wijngaarden op zanderige bodems waardoor de wijnstokken diep op zoek gaan naar voedingsstoffen, wat resulteert in geconcentreerde wijnen met een goed bewaarpotentieel.

    De wijn heeft een rijp en elegant karakter met tonen van donker fruit zoals zwarte kersen, aalbessen en cassis, gevolgd door tonen van koffie en chocolade en tertiaire aroma's van kruiden. In de mond is hij rijk en lineair, zacht en dicht met wat minerale tonen en een lange, aanhoudende afdronk. Hij is perfect bij gegrild vlees of stevige pastagerechten met vleessauzen zoals Lasagna Bolognese of traditionele Griekse Pastitsio.
