Het aankoopproces en de productkeuze zijn goed, maar de bezorgservice met UPS is ellendig. Ik zal helaas niet meer kopen vanwege de bezorging door UPS die zich nooit aan datum/tijd houdt en een vals excuus geeft dat ze afwezig zijn terwijl ik er was en een vrije dag heb genomen om er te zijn.

    De drijvende kracht achter Glenelly Estate is de Franse wijnmaker May de Lencquesaing die meer dan 30 jaar eigenaar en directeur was van het Pauillac wijnhuis Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande in Bordeaux. In 2003 kocht de 78-jarige een boerderij van 123 hectare in Stellenbosch, vlakbij het legendarische landgoed Rustenberg, en begon deze om te vormen tot een prestigieuze wijnmakerij.

    Het landgoed is gezegend met hellingen op het oosten, wat ongebruikelijk is voor Stellenbosch, en ligt in een zadeldal tussen heuvels met regelmatige verkoelende briesjes die zelfs in de hete zomermaanden voor gematigde temperaturen zorgen. Hun Reserve Red Blend is Glenelly's iconische botteling en wordt gemaakt in een "Grand Vin" Bordeaux stijl, voornamelijk van Cabernet Sauvignon samen met Merlot, Syrah, Cabernet Franc en Petit Verdot.

    Alle druiven worden zorgvuldig met de hand geplukt en gesorteerd voordat ze in roestvrijstalen tanks worden gekneusd. Na de vinificatie wordt de wijn gedurende 18 maanden overgebracht naar Franse eikenhouten vaten, die delicate geroosterde en kruidige tonen toevoegen aan de weelderige smaken van donker fruit. Groot en krachtig, dit is een geweldige rode wijn om nog een paar jaar te bewaren of om nu van te genieten naast stevige rode vleesgerechten als biefstuk, wildstoofpotten of gebarbecuede ribbetjes.
