Een onvergetelijke verjaardag met DAOU & Colomé Het vieren van mijn moeders verjaardag werd nog specialer dankzij twee ongelooflijke wijnen - DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 en Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. De ster van de avond was ongetwijfeld de DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. Vanaf de eerste slok werden we omarmd door een rijke, fluweelzachte smaak. De diepe aroma's van donker fruit, hints van cacao en perfect gebalanceerd eikenhout zorgden ervoor dat elk glas aanvoelde als een ware verwennerij. Hij was gedurfd en toch elegant, een wijn die moeiteloos warmte en vreugde bracht aan onze bijeenkomst. Toen ik mijn moeder elke slok met een glimlach zag proeven, was het des te gedenkwaardiger. De Colomé Auténtico Malbec leverde ook prachtig, met zijn pure expressie van hooggelegen Malbec. Hij was krachtig, met rijpe bramen, kruiden en een zachte, aanhoudende afdronk - een uitstekende aanvulling op de avond. Deze wijnen versterkten niet alleen onze maaltijd; ze werden een deel van de viering, waardoor elke toast en elk gesprek een hoogtepunt werd. Hartelijk dank aan DAOU en Colomé voor het onvergetelijk maken van deze speciale gelegenheid!

    A Birthday to Remember with DAOU & Colomé Celebrating my mother’s birthday was made even more special thanks to two incredible wines—DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 and Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. The star of the evening was undoubtedly the DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. From the first sip, it enveloped us in its rich, velvety embrace. The deep dark fruit flavors, hints of cocoa, and perfectly balanced oak made every glass feel like a true indulgence. It was bold yet elegant, a wine that effortlessly brought warmth and joy to our gathering. Seeing my mother savor each sip with a smile made it all the more memorable. The Colomé Auténtico Malbec also delivered beautifully, with its pure expression of high-altitude Malbec. It was powerful, with ripe blackberries, spice, and a smooth, lingering finish—an excellent complement to the evening. These wines didn’t just enhance our meal; they became part of the celebration, elevating every toast and conversation. A heartfelt thank you to DAOU and Colomé for making this special occasion truly unforgettable!

    In 1999 nam de 22-jarige Stéphane Usseglio het roer over van Domaine Raymond Usseglio. Het domaine is een instituut in de Rhônevallei, officieel opgericht in 1964 door Stéphane's ouders Raymond en Danielle.

    Het domein haalt zijn druiven voornamelijk uit de Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellatie, waar in totaal 18 hectare wijngaard staat. Er worden verschillende methodes gebruikt om een prachtige selectie cuveés te produceren, van gisting in betonnen tanks tot amfora's van klei. Stéphane hield toezicht op de overgang van het domein naar biologisch-dynamische landbouw en Domaine Raymond Usseglio is sinds 2015 volledig gecertificeerd.

    "La Part des Anges" is een rode blend van Mourvedre met een rijk rookboeket van cederhout, zoethout en viooltjes. De hout- en kruidenelementen die zo prominent aanwezig zijn in de neus, zijn afkomstig van de rijping in nieuwe eiken vaten. Grenache maakt 20% van de blend uit en syrah 10%. In de mond is hij sappig en fris, met tonen van rode bes, veenbes en zwarte steenvruchten, zoals pruim. Er zijn hints van citrusvruchten en ziltigheid op de aangename afdronk. "La Part des Anges past uitstekend bij enkele gekruide groentegerechten, zoals gevulde paprika's, Marokkaanse tajine of een eenvoudige gegrilde steak.
