    Drink hem nu of bewaar hem tot 15 jaar. Het wordt aanbevolen om de wijn een uur te decanteren.

    De d'Arenberg wijnmakerij bestaat al sinds 1912 en wordt gezien als een rockster in de Aussie Shiraz scene. Het stond maar liefst 9 keer in de Wine & Spirits Top 100 Wineries en wordt nu gerund door Chester Osborn, de vierde generatie van de familie. Ze hebben een coole plek in McLaren Vale met eeuwenoude wijnstokken en zijn overgestapt op biologische en biodynamische landbouw om alles fris te houden.

    De wijn heeft ook een coole achtergrond, vernoemd naar het favoriete paard van Joseph Osborn, Footbolt. Ze persen de druiven nog steeds met hun voeten, wat behoorlijk ouderwets is maar de wijn soepel houdt. Daarna koelt hij in Franse eiken vaten en wordt hij helemaal chique voordat hij in de fles gaat.

    In het glas heeft de D'Arenberg Footbolt Shiraz een diepe, donkere kleur met wat paarse en robijnrode accenten. In de neus is het net een fruitexplosie met donkere pruimen, bramen, een vleugje zwarte peper en wat laatste tonen van vanille en zoethout. Hij is vol, fluweelzacht en vol van smaak, met een pittige kick aan het einde. Combineer hem met wat BBQ-steak of een mooie, sappige runderborst. Maar als je hem een tijdje wilt bewaren, kan hij nog ruim tien jaar mee.
