Een onvergetelijke verjaardag met DAOU & Colomé Het vieren van mijn moeders verjaardag werd nog specialer dankzij twee ongelooflijke wijnen - DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 en Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. De ster van de avond was ongetwijfeld de DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. Vanaf de eerste slok werden we omarmd door een rijke, fluweelzachte smaak. De diepe aroma's van donker fruit, hints van cacao en perfect gebalanceerd eikenhout zorgden ervoor dat elk glas aanvoelde als een ware verwennerij. Hij was gedurfd en toch elegant, een wijn die moeiteloos warmte en vreugde bracht aan onze bijeenkomst. Toen ik mijn moeder elke slok met een glimlach zag proeven, was het des te gedenkwaardiger. De Colomé Auténtico Malbec leverde ook prachtig, met zijn pure expressie van hooggelegen Malbec. Hij was krachtig, met rijpe bramen, kruiden en een zachte, aanhoudende afdronk - een uitstekende aanvulling op de avond. Deze wijnen versterkten niet alleen onze maaltijd; ze werden een deel van de viering, waardoor elke toast en elk gesprek een hoogtepunt werd. Hartelijk dank aan DAOU en Colomé voor het onvergetelijk maken van deze speciale gelegenheid!

    A Birthday to Remember with DAOU & Colomé Celebrating my mother’s birthday was made even more special thanks to two incredible wines—DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 and Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. The star of the evening was undoubtedly the DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. From the first sip, it enveloped us in its rich, velvety embrace. The deep dark fruit flavors, hints of cocoa, and perfectly balanced oak made every glass feel like a true indulgence. It was bold yet elegant, a wine that effortlessly brought warmth and joy to our gathering. Seeing my mother savor each sip with a smile made it all the more memorable. The Colomé Auténtico Malbec also delivered beautifully, with its pure expression of high-altitude Malbec. It was powerful, with ripe blackberries, spice, and a smooth, lingering finish—an excellent complement to the evening. These wines didn’t just enhance our meal; they became part of the celebration, elevating every toast and conversation. A heartfelt thank you to DAOU and Colomé for making this special occasion truly unforgettable!

    Drink hem nu of bewaar hem tot 10 jaar in een kelder. Het wordt aanbevolen om de wijn een uur te decanteren.

    Gelegen in Healdsburg, in het hart van Sonoma County, werd Ramey Wine Cellars opgericht door de bekende wijnmaker David Ramey en zijn vrouw Carla. Begonnen in 1996 met Chardonnay, produceert Ramey nu ook Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir en Syrah. Ze werken met wijngaarden in Sonoma en Napa Valley en gebruiken oude wijnbouwtechnieken. Hun wereldberoemde wijnen hebben een Europese stijl met al het typische Californische fruitige karakter.

    De wijn is een blend van voornamelijk Syrah met een vleugje Viognier. De druiven komen van Rodgers Creek Vineyard en Cole Creek Vineyard, gelegen aan de Sonoma Coast, op respectievelijk vulkanische kiezelsilt- en kleileemgrond. De Syrah en Viognier worden samen gefermenteerd in tanks met inheemse gisten en de afgewerkte wijn ligt 18 maanden op de droesem.

    De wijn heeft een dichte kleur en een intens en breed aromatisch profiel. In de neus onthult hij tonen van zwarte bessen en pruimen, lavendel en groene olijven, en wat balsamico en wildachtige tonen. In de mond is hij zacht en middelzwaar met een evenwichtige frisheid en een goede fruitconcentratie. Hij heeft fluweelzachte tannines en een sappige en aanhoudende afdronk. De wijn is veelzijdig te combineren, maar zijn ideale partners zijn rood vlees en wild.
