Het aankoopproces en de productkeuze zijn goed, maar de bezorgservice met UPS is ellendig. Ik zal helaas niet meer kopen vanwege de bezorging door UPS die zich nooit aan datum/tijd houdt en een vals excuus geeft dat ze afwezig zijn terwijl ik er was en een vrije dag heb genomen om er te zijn.

    Compañía Vinícola del Norte de España, bekend onder de afkorting CVNE, werd in 1879 opgericht in Haro, La Rioja. Het is een historisch wijnhuis dat wereldwijd bekende wijnen produceert. Binnen hetzelfde bedrijf zijn er 4 verschillende wijnmakerijen, waaronder Imperial.

    De Tempranillo, Graciano en Mazuelo druiven komen van wijngaarden met een lage opbrengst in Villalba en Torremontalbo. De wijnstokken hebben een gemiddelde leeftijd van ongeveer 40 jaar en zijn geplant op kleigrond met kiezels en weinig organisch materiaal. De oogst is handmatig en na de gisting bij een gecontroleerde temperatuur rust de afgewerkte wijn 24 maanden in nieuwe Franse en Amerikaanse eiken vaten.

    CVNE Imperial Gran Reserva is een elegante en complexe wijn met een heldere en briljante kleur met granaatrode tinten. In de neus onthult het een geurig en breed bouquet met tonen van bessen en zoethout, balsamico en tabak hints, en vervolgens koffie en kruidnagel. In de mond is de wijn elegant en goed gestructureerd, diep en in balans met een aangename zuurgraad. De tannines zijn fijn en perfect geïntegreerd. De afdronk is lang en fris. Hij is heerlijk op zichzelf, maar probeer hem ook eens met geroosterd lamsvlees voor de ultieme wijn-spijservaring.
