    De prachtige wijngaarden van Vignobles Mayard strekken zich uit over 43 hectare 2 groot en omvatten 2 eilandjes, een van 21 hectare gelegen ten zuiden van de Châteauneuf du Pape appellatie in de plaats genaamd Grand Coulet, de andere van 8 hectare gelegen in het oosten, op het beroemde Crau Plateau. Het hele landgoed omvat een dertigtal percelen, verspreid over zeer gevarieerde terroirs, waarvan sommige al meer dan een eeuw zijn aangeplant.

    La Crau de ma Mère is een blend van Grenache, Mourvèdre en Syrah, afkomstig van oude wijnstokken, waarvan de meeste dateren uit de periode na de fylloxera. De druiven zijn afkomstig van het perceel La Crau, dat wordt beschouwd als een van de beste en oudste van de appellation. De rijping vindt plaats in vaten, demi-muids en tonnen gedurende 18 maanden.

    In de neus zijn er complexe aroma's van bramen, kruiden en rozen, maar ook wat dierlijke tonen. De mond is soepel en gul, met een levendige frisheid die in evenwicht wordt gehouden door aroma's van rijp rood fruit, en soepele tannines. Dit is een prachtige wijn, die elegantie, kracht en rijkdom combineert. Probeer hem eens bij wild, een gebraden lamsbout of oude kaas.
