    Gelegen in Californië, in Santa Cruz, werd het wijnhuis Bonny Doon in 1983 opgericht door Randall Grahm, een van de voorlopers van de biologische landbouw en het gebruik van druiven uit de Rhônevallei.

    De druiven zijn afkomstig uit het wijngebied Paso Robles, een van de meest interessante en diverse wijnbouwgebieden aan de centrale kust van Californië. Maar de regio wordt gekenmerkt door belangrijke microklimaten. In het oosten hebben de bergen van Santa Lucia aan de koude Stille Oceaan meer last van mist, wind en oceaanneerslag dan de rest van de deelgebieden van Paso. In het westen vind je de warmste en meest westelijke appellaties van Paso Robles. Hier worden zachte, krachtige en fruitige wijnen gemaakt, vooral Cabernet Sauvignon en Zinfandel. Dankzij het grote temperatuurverschil tussen dag en nacht worden deze wijnen ook gekenmerkt door verrassende zuren.

    De wijn is een blend van 75% Zinfandel, 18% Tannat en 7% Petite Sirah. De druiven worden voorzichtig ontsteeld en gekneusd. De maceratie wordt verlengd om een grotere extractie te bevorderen. De wijn rijpt vervolgens in nieuwe eikenhouten vaten.

    Deze Zinfandel is een weelderige en intense wijn met een rijk en daadkrachtig gehemelte, en smakelijke smaken van rode vruchtenjam vergezeld van een zachte kruidige afdronk. De gemiddelde zuurgraad zorgt voor een harmonieus evenwicht. Probeer hem eens bij kruidig lamsvlees.
