    Het wijnhuis Schiavenza, gelegen in Serralunga d'Alba, werd halverwege de jaren 50 opgericht door Ugo en Vittorio Alessandria en wordt nu beschouwd als een van de historische bedrijven in de Langhe. Tegenwoordig omvat het landgoed, dat zich uitstrekt over ongeveer 8 hectare, ook wijngaarden in de gemeente Monforte d'Alba. Schiavenza cultiveert naast Nebbiolo nog twee inheemse variëteiten zoals Dolcetto en Barbera.

    Barolo Broglio Riserva wordt alleen in de beste jaren gemaakt en uitsluitend met Nebbiolo druiven die laat met de hand worden geoogst van de prestigieuze Broglio Cru, gelegen in het Serralunga gebied. Na een traditionele vinificatie rust de afgewerkte wijn 4 jaar in grote vaten en daarna nog eens 2 jaar in de fles.

    Na deze lange rijping is het resultaat een diepe en complexe rode wijn met een heldere granaatkleur en een elegant en intens aromatisch profiel. In de neus onthult hij aroma's van kreupelhout en kruiden, evenals enkele hints van zoethout en leer. In de mond is hij krachtig en karaktervol, met een volle body en stevige en rijpe tannines. De afdronk is lang en aanhoudend en roept hints op van fruit en specerijen. Hij is uitstekend bij wild en Piemontese gestoofd vlees.
