Een onvergetelijke verjaardag met DAOU & Colomé Het vieren van mijn moeders verjaardag werd nog specialer dankzij twee ongelooflijke wijnen - DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 en Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. De ster van de avond was ongetwijfeld de DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. Vanaf de eerste slok werden we omarmd door een rijke, fluweelzachte smaak. De diepe aroma's van donker fruit, hints van cacao en perfect gebalanceerd eikenhout zorgden ervoor dat elk glas aanvoelde als een ware verwennerij. Hij was gedurfd en toch elegant, een wijn die moeiteloos warmte en vreugde bracht aan onze bijeenkomst. Toen ik mijn moeder elke slok met een glimlach zag proeven, was het des te gedenkwaardiger. De Colomé Auténtico Malbec leverde ook prachtig, met zijn pure expressie van hooggelegen Malbec. Hij was krachtig, met rijpe bramen, kruiden en een zachte, aanhoudende afdronk - een uitstekende aanvulling op de avond. Deze wijnen versterkten niet alleen onze maaltijd; ze werden een deel van de viering, waardoor elke toast en elk gesprek een hoogtepunt werd. Hartelijk dank aan DAOU en Colomé voor het onvergetelijk maken van deze speciale gelegenheid!

    Het Idahue Estate, gelegen op 15 mijl van de Stille Oceaan, beslaat meer dan 500 hectare in het Licanten wijngebied en is eigendom van het wijnhuis La Ronciere. De overheersende kustbries, de overvloedige zonneschijn en de glooiende heuvels met oude bodems creëren hier een geavanceerd klimatologisch en geologisch landschap dat bijzonder gunstig is voor de wijnbouw. Het potentieel van de Licanten regio is net ontplooid, maar de wijnen tonen nu al het buitengewone karakter van deze plaatsen, met grote concentratie en finesse.

    De wijn is samengesteld uit een meerderheid van Malbec druiven met kleine toevoegingen van Merlot en Cabernet Franc, met de hand geselecteerd en geoogst van de Idahue wijngaard. Na een week gisting en een daaropvolgende maceratie van 30 dagen rijpt de wijn 10 maanden op Frans eikenhout.

    Deze Malbec is een sensuele en volle wijn, gekenmerkt door buitengewone elegantie en verfijning. De neus onthult intense aroma's van zwarte peper, kersen, bramen, pruimen en cacao. In de mond valt hij het gehemelte niet aan, ondanks dat het een rijke en robuuste wijn is. De tannines zijn zacht en sappig, en de afdronk is lang en aanhoudend. Dit is de perfecte BBQ wijn.
