A Birthday to Remember with DAOU & Colomé Celebrating my mother’s birthday was made even more special thanks to two incredible wines—DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 and Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. The star of the evening was undoubtedly the DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. From the first sip, it enveloped us in its rich, velvety embrace. The deep dark fruit flavors, hints of cocoa, and perfectly balanced oak made every glass feel like a true indulgence. It was bold yet elegant, a wine that effortlessly brought warmth and joy to our gathering. Seeing my mother savor each sip with a smile made it all the more memorable. The Colomé Auténtico Malbec also delivered beautifully, with its pure expression of high-altitude Malbec. It was powerful, with ripe blackberries, spice, and a smooth, lingering finish—an excellent complement to the evening. These wines didn’t just enhance our meal; they became part of the celebration, elevating every toast and conversation. A heartfelt thank you to DAOU and Colomé for making this special occasion truly unforgettable!

    Een onvergetelijke verjaardag met DAOU & Colomé Het vieren van mijn moeders verjaardag werd nog specialer dankzij twee ongelooflijke wijnen - DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 en Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. De ster van de avond was ongetwijfeld de DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. Vanaf de eerste slok werden we omarmd door een rijke, fluweelzachte smaak. De diepe aroma's van donker fruit, hints van cacao en perfect gebalanceerd eikenhout zorgden ervoor dat elk glas aanvoelde als een ware verwennerij. Hij was gedurfd en toch elegant, een wijn die moeiteloos warmte en vreugde bracht aan onze bijeenkomst. Toen ik mijn moeder elke slok met een glimlach zag proeven, was het des te gedenkwaardiger. De Colomé Auténtico Malbec leverde ook prachtig, met zijn pure expressie van hooggelegen Malbec. Hij was krachtig, met rijpe bramen, kruiden en een zachte, aanhoudende afdronk - een uitstekende aanvulling op de avond. Deze wijnen versterkten niet alleen onze maaltijd; ze werden een deel van de viering, waardoor elke toast en elk gesprek een hoogtepunt werd. Hartelijk dank aan DAOU en Colomé voor het onvergetelijk maken van deze speciale gelegenheid!

    Kistler Vineyards werd in 1978 opgericht door Steve Kistler en is een familiebedrijf in Noord-Californië. Dit is een relatief kleine producent die sinds de jaren 1980 bekend staat om zijn robuuste, boterachtige Chardonnays die een malolactische gisting ondergaan en gerijpt worden in kleine nieuwe eiken vaten. Het wijnhuis richt zich op Bourgondische variëteiten en produceert 11 Chardonnays en 4 Pinot Noirs. De druiven worden geselecteerd uit drie AVA's in Sonoma County: Sonoma Coast, Sonoma Mountain en Carneros.

    Kistler's Les Noisetiers is een Chardonnay wijn met een zeer sterk regionaal karakter dat de typische minerale tonen van de zandgronden van Gold Ridge weergeeft. De druiven komen van de Vine Hill Vineyard, Dutton Ranch en Trenton Roadhouse wijngaarden.

    Het resultaat is een wijn met een intense en briljante kleur. In de neus onthult hij een grote concentratie steen- en citrusvruchten en tonen van witte bloemen. Het is een levendige en sappige wijn met een duidelijke minerale ader. In de mond zit hij boordevol vers fruit: ananas, perzik, abrikoos en peer. Fris en vol, is het een perfect aperitief maar past ook heel goed bij kreeft, garnalen en gevulde kipfilet.
