Nestled in the heart of the village of Bué in the Sancerrois, the Jean-Max Roger winery was born in 1972 when Jean-Max took over the vineyards owned by his parents. Gradually, the estate grew, going beyond the borders of Sancerre to expand into the territory of Menetou-Salon. Today the estate has more than 34 hectares, of which 28 are in the Sancerre appellation, 6 are in the Menetou-Salon appellation, and other small plots in other appellations in the area, managed by Thibault and Etienne, the sons of Jean-Max who arrived in the company in 2004.
The Sauvignon Blanc grapes for Jean-Max Roger's Sancerre La Cote de Bue come from a vineyard with an extremely steep slope, up to 50%. A third of the finished wine is aged in medium-sized oak barrels acquiring an extra texture and some light spicy notes.
The wine has a bright color with straw yellow tones and golden-green reflections. The nose reveals lively floral notes typical of Sauvignon Blanc from the Loire, enriched by the complexity of sweet spices. In the mouth, it is fresh and clean with an excellent concentration of fruit and a long and thirst-quenching finish. It goes perfectly with fish, seafood, or vegetarian recipes.
