A Birthday to Remember with DAOU & Colomé Celebrating my mother’s birthday was made even more special thanks to two incredible wines—DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 and Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. The star of the evening was undoubtedly the DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. From the first sip, it enveloped us in its rich, velvety embrace. The deep dark fruit flavors, hints of cocoa, and perfectly balanced oak made every glass feel like a true indulgence. It was bold yet elegant, a wine that effortlessly brought warmth and joy to our gathering. Seeing my mother savor each sip with a smile made it all the more memorable. The Colomé Auténtico Malbec also delivered beautifully, with its pure expression of high-altitude Malbec. It was powerful, with ripe blackberries, spice, and a smooth, lingering finish—an excellent complement to the evening. These wines didn’t just enhance our meal; they became part of the celebration, elevating every toast and conversation. A heartfelt thank you to DAOU and Colomé for making this special occasion truly unforgettable!

    Een onvergetelijke verjaardag met DAOU & Colomé Het vieren van mijn moeders verjaardag werd nog specialer dankzij twee ongelooflijke wijnen - DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 en Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. De ster van de avond was ongetwijfeld de DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. Vanaf de eerste slok werden we omarmd door een rijke, fluweelzachte smaak. De diepe aroma's van donker fruit, hints van cacao en perfect gebalanceerd eikenhout zorgden ervoor dat elk glas aanvoelde als een ware verwennerij. Hij was gedurfd en toch elegant, een wijn die moeiteloos warmte en vreugde bracht aan onze bijeenkomst. Toen ik mijn moeder elke slok met een glimlach zag proeven, was het des te gedenkwaardiger. De Colomé Auténtico Malbec leverde ook prachtig, met zijn pure expressie van hooggelegen Malbec. Hij was krachtig, met rijpe bramen, kruiden en een zachte, aanhoudende afdronk - een uitstekende aanvulling op de avond. Deze wijnen versterkten niet alleen onze maaltijd; ze werden een deel van de viering, waardoor elke toast en elk gesprek een hoogtepunt werd. Hartelijk dank aan DAOU en Colomé voor het onvergetelijk maken van deze speciale gelegenheid!

    Deze heerlijke Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc opent met frisse aroma's van citrus, grapefruit en hints van rook. De eerste slok onthult een heldere zuurgraad, een gemiddelde body en intense smaken van papaja, meloen en verse kruiden. Probeer te combineren met lichte gerechten zoals bladsalades, gegrilde vis en risotto met asperges om het aromatische karakter van het ras tot zijn recht te laten komen.

    De druiven die voor deze wijn worden gebruikt zijn afkomstig van zeven verschillende percelen in Marlborough en de druiven uit elk gebied worden apart gevinifieerd. Framingham gist een klein deel van de wijn in eikenhouten vaten om extra complexiteit en body toe te voegen, terwijl de rest wordt vergist in roestvrijstalen tanks. De wijn rijpt vervolgens zes maanden op de droesem voordat de uiteindelijke blend wordt bepaald en de wijn wordt gebotteld.

    De filosofie van Framingham is gericht op het maken van wijnen die ze zelf willen drinken, een aanpak die dit boetiekwijnhuis in Marlborough snel op de kaart heeft gezet. Om de wijngaarden van het landgoed voor toekomstige generaties te behouden, beheert het team de wijnstokken op een weinig belastende manier en voert het grootste deel van het werk met de hand uit. Hun land is ook gecertificeerd als biologisch met BioGro NZ Ltd en het landgoed is erkend als duurzaam.
