Vincent Pinard’s family have been making wine in Sancerre for 20 generations, so it was little surprise he would want to found his own domaine in 1995. The estate is set in the heart of the Sancerre region in the town of Bué and is now run by his sons, Florent and Clément, who continue the family tradition of natural-style winemaking with very limited intervention in the winery.

At Domaine Vincent Pinard the quality of the wines begins in the vineyard where the family insist on farming their vines organically and harvesting the fruit by hand. In total they have 17 hectares of vines and produce several single vineyard wines which show off the brilliance of the local terroir.

This superb Sancerre Chene Marchand is crafted from a selection of the best plots in Bué set on south-facing slopes which enjoy maximum exposure to sunlight. The soils here heat up quickly during the ripening season, helping to produce a generous style of Sancerre with plenty of luscious stone fruit flavours and a well-rounded texture carefully balanced by a bright streak of acidity. A complex and ageworthy wine that can be cellared for another decade or enjoyed now with chicken or fish dishes served in a creamy sauce, full-flavoured salads, or a generous platter of cheeses.
