Een onvergetelijke verjaardag met DAOU & Colomé Het vieren van mijn moeders verjaardag werd nog specialer dankzij twee ongelooflijke wijnen - DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 en Colomé Auténtico Malbec 2020. De ster van de avond was ongetwijfeld de DAOU Cabernet Sauvignon. Vanaf de eerste slok werden we omarmd door een rijke, fluweelzachte smaak. De diepe aroma's van donker fruit, hints van cacao en perfect gebalanceerd eikenhout zorgden ervoor dat elk glas aanvoelde als een ware verwennerij. Hij was gedurfd en toch elegant, een wijn die moeiteloos warmte en vreugde bracht aan onze bijeenkomst. Toen ik mijn moeder elke slok met een glimlach zag proeven, was het des te gedenkwaardiger. De Colomé Auténtico Malbec leverde ook prachtig, met zijn pure expressie van hooggelegen Malbec. Hij was krachtig, met rijpe bramen, kruiden en een zachte, aanhoudende afdronk - een uitstekende aanvulling op de avond. Deze wijnen versterkten niet alleen onze maaltijd; ze werden een deel van de viering, waardoor elke toast en elk gesprek een hoogtepunt werd. Hartelijk dank aan DAOU en Colomé voor het onvergetelijk maken van deze speciale gelegenheid!

    Chronic Cellars werd in 2004 opgericht door twee broers, Josh en Jake Beckett, vanuit de wens om van "chronische" oftewel de allerbeste druiven heerlijke, gemakkelijke wijnen te maken. De broers en zussen werden geboren in een wijnmakersfamilie in Paso Robles en brachten hun vormende jaren door aan de bottelarij en het afwassen van vaten, ervaringen die hen goed van pas zouden komen toen ze besloten hun eigen wijnlabel op te richten.

    Het duo streeft naar uitmuntendheid op elk gebied van hun wijnbereiding, waarbij ze dankzij hun diepe connecties in Paso Robles het fruit van de allerbeste kwaliteit uit de omgeving betrekken. Wijnmaker Josh sorteert en selecteert vervolgens zorgvuldig het fruit om zijn kenmerkende blends te maken. Een ander opvallend kenmerk van Chronic Cellars zijn de levendige etiketten die zijn gemaakt door een plaatselijke kunstenaar die toevallig ook een jeugdvriend is.

    Purple Paradise is een pittige blend die voornamelijk bestaat uit Zinfandel, een van Paso Robles' klassieke druivenrassen, Petite Sirah, Syrah en Grenache. Rijke tonen van pruimen, kersen en donkere bessen springen onmiddellijk uit het glas, terwijl de eerste slok een zijdezachte textuur, krachtige volle body en lange, licht gekruide afdronk onthult. Het sappige, fruitige smaakprofiel maakt dit een geweldige partner voor hamburgers, pizza of pulled pork gerechten geserveerd met barbecuesaus.
