    Old Vine Zinfandel is prachtig paarsrood in het glas, met een dikke neus van cassis, bramenjam en versgebakken fruittaart. Het is een blend die gedomineerd wordt door Zinfandel, met kleinere porties Petite Sirah, Pinot Noir en Malbec. Ze zijn allemaal geoogst van wijngaarden die eigendom zijn van het domein in de Californische Lodi appellatie, die genesteld ligt tussen de Sierra Nevada bergketen en de San Francisco Bay.

    Oak Ridge is een Californisch wijnhuis met Italiaans erfgoed. Het werd in 1934 gebouwd door Angelo Maggio en is nu overgedragen aan zijn kleinzoon Rudy en Rudy's drie dochters. Terwijl de Maggio familie begon als druiventelers, was het Rudy die het wijnhuis de 21e eeuw in bracht, toen hij wijnen begon te produceren onder de Maggio naam. Nu is het echt een bedrijf dat zich uitstrekt over meerdere generaties, verspreid over 2.500 hectare in de Lodi AVA.

    De Old Vine Zinfandel is een rijpe, fluweelzachte wijn, boordevol aroma's van jamfruit, zwarte thee, gedroogde kruiden en geroosterde noten. Hij heeft een stroperige, melasseachtige textuur, met een uitstekende zuurstructuur en zachte tannines. De vruchten rijpten 10 maanden in een mengsel van Frans en Amerikaans eiken voor het bottelen, wat een eikenhouten ruggengraat toevoegt aan elke hap. Combineer deze wijn met zachte kaas, gebarbecued vlees of een rokerige tomatensoep.
