Het aankoopproces en de productkeuze zijn goed, maar de bezorgservice met UPS is ellendig. Ik zal helaas niet meer kopen vanwege de bezorging door UPS die zich nooit aan datum/tijd houdt en een vals excuus geeft dat ze afwezig zijn terwijl ik er was en een vrije dag heb genomen om er te zijn.

    De El Porvenir de Cafayate, eind jaren zeventig opgericht door Roberto Romero, is een familiebedrijf in Salta, waarvan de productie gebaseerd is op grote liefde voor het gebied, hard werken in de wijngaard en technologische innovatie. In 2000 restaureerde Romero, in samenwerking met zijn kleindochter Lucía Roberto-Marcuzzi, die nu het bedrijf leidt, de 50 jaar oude wijngaarden van Torrontés en Tannat en begon hij aan een infrastructuurvernieuwingsproject, om zich te richten op de productie van kwaliteitswijnen.

    De Icono wijn van het wijnhuis El Porvenir is een blend van Petit Verdot, Tannat, Shiraz/Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon en Malbec. De druiven komen van de wijngaarden Finca Rio Seco en Finca Alto Rio Seco, respectievelijk gelegen op 1700 en 1750 meter boven zeeniveau. Na de vinificatie rust de wijn ongeveer 22-24 maanden in Franse eikenhouten vaten.

    De kleur is diep robijnrood met pruimentonen. De neus onthult intense aroma's van wilde bessen, zoals bramen en cassis, maar ook pruimen en gedroogde vijgen, gevolgd door zoete specerijen en balsamico tonen. In de mond toont hij een heerlijke fruitconcentratie. Hij is fris en evenwichtig en heeft fluweelzachte tannines en een goede body. De afdronk is lang en herinnert aan kruidige tonen. Hij is ideaal bij rood vlees, vooral een sappige steak, en doet het ook goed bij pasta met ragu of een stevige lasagne.
