    Op zoek naar het onaangeboorde potentieel van de Napa Valley richtte Robert Mondavi in 1966 zijn nu legendarische wijnmakerij op met de ambitie om enkele van 's werelds beste Cabernet Sauvignons te produceren. Tegenwoordig is zijn naam synoniem met adembenemende rode blend van topkwaliteit die Napa Valley voor het voetlicht bracht als serieuze concurrent van de grote Europese wijnbouwgebieden.

    Gevormd door Mondavi's perfectionistische erfenis wordt deze klassieke Napa Valley Cab gemaakt met druiven geselecteerd uit hun beroemde To Kalin wijngaard in Oakville en Wappo Hill wijngaard in Stag's Leap. Na een uitgebreide maceratie wordt de most gevinifieerd en vervolgens 17 maanden gerijpt in Franse eikenhouten vaten. Tijdens deze rijpingsperiode bemonstert het team herhaaldelijk de zich ontwikkelende wijnen en beslist over de samenstelling van de uiteindelijke blend. Meestal bevat deze kleine hoeveelheden Merlot, Petit Verdot en Cabernet Franc om verdere complexiteit en een zachte textuur aan de afgewerkte wijn toe te voegen.

    Het resultaat van al deze aandacht voor detail is een weelderige Napa Cab die een uitstekende waarde biedt. De neus explodeert met sappige zwarte kersen, pruimen en leeraroma's die overgaan in verleidelijke kruiden, wilde bessen en lavendel in de mond. Een uitstekende kennismaking met de koning van Napa, Cabernet Sauvignon, van de man die de vallei op de wijnkaart zette!
    Toevoegen om te vergelijken
