    Het aankoopproces en de productkeuze zijn goed, maar de bezorgservice met UPS is ellendig. Ik zal helaas niet meer kopen vanwege de bezorging door UPS die zich nooit aan datum/tijd houdt en een vals excuus geeft dat ze afwezig zijn terwijl ik er was en een vrije dag heb genomen om er te zijn.

    Domaine Jean-Paul & Benoît Droin is een familiebedrijf met een geschiedenis van bijna 400 jaar in de prestigieuze wijnstreek Chablis. Het domein, dat bijna 25 hectare wijngaarden bezit, wordt tegenwoordig geleid door Benoit, de 14e generatie van de familie Drouin.

    De Chardonnay druiven komen van het perceel tussen Les Clos en Valmur, geplant op een helling met een zuidwest/westelijke ligging, op verschillende grondsoorten, allemaal van dezelfde Kimmeridgian. Bovenaan zijn de bodems steenachtig en kalkrijk. In het midden is er een streep blauwe klei. Onderaan is de grond dieper en kleiachtig. Na de handmatige oogst vindt de gisting spontaan plaats, deels in staal en deels in barrique. De naam van de wijn is een eerbetoon aan Louis Drouin die de wijngaard in 1920 kocht.

    Chablis Grand Cru Hommage a Louis is een krachtige en elegante wijn met een sterk karakter. In de neus onthult hij een breed en complex aromatisch profiel met tonen van wit fruit en rijp steenfruit, en vervolgens minerale en rokerige hints. In de mond is hij fris en rond, evenwichtig en goed gestructureerd. Hij heeft een verfrissende zuurgraad en een grote complexiteit en persistentie. De afdronk doet denken aan jodium en minerale tonen. Het is het proberen waard bij sushi en ook uitstekend bij geroosterde tarbot.
    Toevoegen om te vergelijken
    Dit is het hoogtepunt van de Droin-wijnen en een van de beste grand cru cuvées in Chablis. Hij geeft wijnen met een uitzonderlijke rechtlijnige structuur en kracht door zijn volume en intensiteit. Hij drukt een groot aromatisch bereik uit met toetsen van rijp fruit, zoals perzik, maar ook oesterschelpen en rokerigheid. Het gehemelte maakt indruk door zijn frisheid, kracht en mineraal evenwicht. Er is een fijn reductief aspect te vinden, gedragen door de maritieme aroma's van oesterschelp, citroen en vuursteen. Dit is een grote, complexe wijn met een uitzonderlijk bewaarpotentieel.
